One-day Sports Meet In Diyungbra Brings Together Over 350 Young Athletes

Halfling , Nov 20, More than 350 students from eight government and private schools came together for a spirited one-day sports meet at the Diyungbra Sports Complex, turning the quiet venue into a lively showcase of young athletic talent. The event was organised by the Dima Hasao Adventure Association in collaboration with the Diyungbra Sports Association, aiming to boost sports culture across the district.

The day featured a packed line-up of track and field events, including 100m, 200m and 400m races, alongside high jump, long jump and javelin throw for both junior and senior categories. Boys competed in arm wrestling and volleyball, while girls took to the kabaddi court. Chess drew enthusiastic participation from both groups in the open category, adding a strategic edge to the meet.

Speaking to the media, Karan Daulagupu, president of the Dima Hasao Adventure Association, said the initiative seeks to build sportsmanship from a young age while offering students a platform to explore and display their abilities. He added that such events help nurture interest in sports and open opportunities for emerging talent in the district.

The event concluded with prize distribution for all participants, rounding off a day that not only celebrated competition but also strengthened the growing sporting ecosystem in Diyungbra. Organisers said they hope the meet will inspire more young athletes to pursue sports actively and confidently.
