West KA holds flood and fire safety mock drill

BAITHALANGSO, Nov 21: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), West Karbi Anglong in collaboration with the SDRF team, Hamren conducted a mock drill on flood preparedness and fire safety at the Karbi Langpi Hydro Electric Project, Lengry on Friday.

The exercise aimed to raise awareness among personnel and prepare them for emergency situations related to floods and fires under the guidance of the District Project Officer, West Karbi Anglong and Station Officer, Fire & Emergency Services, Hamren.

The drill began with an inspection of the dam site, followed by a visit to the power station. Safety and security measures in case of disasters were discussed in detail with APGCL staff. Fire safety equipment was thoroughly checked by the Station Officer in the presence of the District Project Officer and Field Officers of West Karbi Anglong. The exercise highlighted the importance of preparedness, coordination and efficient response mechanisms to minimise risks during natural and fire-related emergencies.
