DIPHU, Nov 22: With horticulture gaining momentum among farmers in the Amri Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) constituency, the Deputy Chairman of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Avijit Kro visited a pioneering pineapple farm in the region on Friday.
The farm, owned and managed by Gildeep Timung, an educated and progressive cultivator has emerged as a model of modern horticulture farming. By focusing solely on pineapple cultivation, Timung has turned his farm into a hub for learning and innovation for growers across the district.
During his visit, Kro closely observed the farm’s production techniques, including soil preparation, sapling spacing, organic care and harvesting methods. He engaged with the processes that have contributed to the farm’s success and praised Timung’s dedication and vision.
Kro described Timung as an inspiration for young farmers embracing modern agricultural practices. He encouraged other farmers in the constituency to visit the farm and gain hands-on knowledge to improve the quality of their saplings and cultivation methods.
The Deputy Chairman emphasized that such interactions strengthen the relationship between the administration and farming communities while paving the way for agricultural development in Karbi Anglong. He noted that with model farms like Timung’s leading the way, the district is moving toward innovation, self-reliance and enhanced rural livelihoods.
