NAGAON, Nov 24: Nagaon police on Saturday arrested an alleged arms supplier and recovered an illegal pistol, two live cartridges and a luxury vehicle during an early morning operation.
The accused, identified as Sadiqur Rahman Choudhury of Shribhumi district was apprehended by Nagaon Sadar police following a tip-off. During the search, officers found the pistol and ammunition concealed inside the vehicle bearing registration number AS 01 FF 3035.
Sources said Sadiqur had brought the pistol to Nagaon with the intention of selling it. Police are interrogating him to ascertain the source of the weapon and identify possible links to a wider arms network.
Authorities also confirmed that Sadiqur has a criminal history, having previously been involved in car theft cases for which he was jailed. Police said further investigation is underway. The accused is currently in custody at Nagaon police station as officials work to gather more information about his activities, sources added.
