GUWAHATI, Nov 29: In pursuance of the suggestion made at the Governors’ Conference held in 2024, and following a communiqué issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Memo No. 7/10/2025 (Part)-M&G dated 25/11/2025) requesting that the Offices of the Governors of States be renamed as Lok Bhavan instead of Raj Bhavan, it has been decided to adopt the new nomenclature.
Accordingly, the Office of the Governor shall now be referred to as “Lok Bhavan”, while the Office of the Lieutenant Governor shall be known as “Lok Niwas.” With this, “Raj Bhavan, Assam” has been officially renamed as “Lok Bhavan, Assam”, and all future references will follow the revised designation.
