DHUBRI, Dec 3: In a significant boost to digital education in the district, Dhubri Girls’ College, the only girls’ college in Dhubri has inaugurated a fully equipped digital classroom following a generous computer setup donation from Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

The new facility, inaugurated on Wednesday, marks a major technological upgrade for the institution. The donated computer systems aim to bridge the digital divide and strengthen technology-enabled learning for the college’s rapidly expanding student community.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by key dignitaries, including District Inspector of Schools Adit Kumar Sharma, college principal Dr Manoranjan Roy, representatives from L&T Limited and members of the faculty. Their presence highlighted the importance of the initiative in advancing educational infrastructure in the region.

Expressing heartfelt gratitude, Dr Roy described L&T’s contribution as transformative for the institution. “The support from L&T is a game-changer for our college. It not only fulfills our need for a dedicated digital classroom but also allows us to effectively implement the technology-driven changes required under the new education policy,” he said.

The principal noted that the college has been facing immense pressure due to a surge in enrolment. Over 1,400 students have applied for the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, while more than 1,200 learners have enrolled through the Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU) study centre housed within the campus.
