MARGHERITA, Dec 3: Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma, his representative Disen Tipomia, Tinsukia Zilla Parishad Chairman Bhadeswar Moran, Margherita BJP Sadar Mandal president Suman Khalen and members of the Inthem Gaon Panchayat and Anchalik Panchayat visited the Inthem Mungong Buddha Vihar on Wednesday, days after the shocking murder of Indrabonsho Bhikkhu.
The monk’s body was recovered on November 22 from the premises of the Buddha Vihar, located under the 83rd Margherita Legislative Assembly constituency in Tinsukia district. The brutal killing has left the people of Margherita grief-stricken and deeply shaken.
MLA Bhaskar Sharma said that upon reaching the site he held detailed discussions with officials of Pengree and Digboi police, as well as with local residents to understand the circumstances surrounding the crime. He urged Pengree Police and the Margherita Co-District administration to take the “strictest possible action” to ensure that those responsible face exemplary punishment.
Expressing profound condolences, Sharma said the community has been devastated by the tragic loss. He added that prayers were offered and candles lit before Lord Buddha in memory of Indrabonsho Bhikkhu, hoping for peace to the departed soul.
