SIVASAGAR, Dec 9: BR Ambedkar Foundation, Sivasagar, celebrated the death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Bhimrao Ambedkar on Monday. The meeting held on the occasion was presided over by Pranjal Das and attended by Dembiram Panging, president of the ONGC ST SV Employees Association, District BJP president Bitopan Raidongia, Ambedkar Foundation advisor Dr Binapani Hazarika, Shyamant Das, Upen Das, Rajiv Das and Chankya Das of Nagaon. The event was moderated by the Foundation’s secretary Bidyut Das.
The meeting also decided to apply to the District Commissioner and the Land Allotment Committee for permanent land pattas for 200 landless families of the Harijan community residing in Melachakar Old Chowk Bazar and Jaysagar Harijan Colony in Sivasagar.

Senior journalist Ratukmar Das, Press Club secretary Himanshu Neog, journalists Pranjal Pujari and Umesh Baldowa and BJP Scheduled Tribes Morcha president Shantiram Panging were also present.
A peace procession was taken out to the statue of Dr Ambedkar to mark the occasion.
