TEZPUR, Dec 12: A district-level coordination meeting on the Leprosy Case Detection Campaign (LCDC) 2025–26 was held on Thursday at Conference Hall-I of the Office of the District Commissioner, Sonitpur, under the chairmanship of District Commissioner Ananda Kumar Das. The meeting aimed to review preparedness and finalise arrangements for the implementation of the Leprosy Case Detection Campaign in the district.
As per the district micro plan presented, the LCDC 2025–26 will cover an estimated population of 13,16,200 as on March 2025 across 2,49,896 households in Sonitpur district. For the exercise, around 1,118 search teams and 215 supervisors will be deployed. The campaign will be carried out in three phases. The first phase, from 15 December to 28 December 2025 will cover the Dhekiajuli BPHC and Rangapara PHC areas. The second phase from 5 January to 18 January 2026 will include the Bihaguri BPHC and North Jamuguri BPHC areas. The third phase from 16 February to 1 March 2026 will cover Tezpur Urban and Balipara BPHC.
The District Commissioner stressed the need for inter-departmental coordination, timely deployment of field workers and enhanced community awareness to ensure early detection and treatment of leprosy cases. He urged all departments concerned to extend full cooperation for the successful implementation of the campaign.
The meeting was attended by Co-District Commissioner of Dhekiajuli Dyotiva Bora, Joint Director of Health Services Dr Biman Sharma, District Leprosy Officer Dr Achyut Hazarika, officials of NHM Assam, SDMOs, DPMUs, BPMUs and representatives of stakeholder line departments.
