DIPHU, Dec 18: A coordinated operation in Bormanthi, Bokajan on Wednesday successfully ended the threat posed by a highly aggressive bull that had injured eleven people, including women and children.
Led by Mobile Veterinary Officer Dr Brindavan Phangcho, a team comprising veterinary staff, the SDPO Bokajan’s police unit and local villagers managed to safely restrain the stray animal. Given its dangerous state, the team performed an on-site castration to calm the bull, citing its uncontrolled behavior and attraction to female animals as the cause of aggression.
The operation required careful rope-restraint before anaesthesia could be administered. The animal recovered smoothly has been secured and will remain under supervision until it becomes non-aggressive. All injured persons were transferred for medical treatment.
Dr Phangcho highlighted the incident as a critical example of human-animal conflict, noting the public safety risks when animals are released without supervision due to religious customs. He commended the seamless collaboration between the veterinary department, police and the Bormanthi community, led by the Village Headman, which ensured a safe resolution.
