During the discussion, the Minister said efforts would be made to address the long-pending financial problems faced by sanitation workers.
Margherita also enquired about access to welfare benefits such as Aadhaar cards, Ayushman Bharat cards and ration cards, and urged the community members to avail themselves of government schemes.
He said the BJP-led government was committed to supporting the poor and meritorious students and extending assistance to those in need.
After the interaction, the Minister distributed school bags among children of the Harijan colony and later shared a meal with community members.
During the course of the discussion, Margherita also made political remarks, stating that leaders such as Akhil Gogoi and Lurinjyoti Gogoi lacked grassroots support and that a united opposition alliance would not materialise.
