JORHAT, Jan 5: Police arrested a man identified as Raju Kumar Ram of Bihar from the Vivek Express at Mariani Railway Junction late Sunday night and recovered suspected heroin concealed in eight soap cases from his possession.

According to police sources, the arrest was made by a joint team of Jorhat and Mariani police with the assistance of the Government Railway Police (GRP), Mariani, acting on specific intelligence inputs.

The accused was reportedly carrying the suspected narcotics from Hojai.
Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the seized contraband, as well as to identify possible links with a larger drug trafficking network.
