MARGHERITA, Jan 7: A three-day livelihood training programme on “Operation of Crawler Mounted Hydraulic Excavator” was inaugurated on Wednesday at India Club, Margherita, under the initiative of the Margherita Co-District Administration in collaboration with North Eastern Coalfields (NEC), Coal India Limited, Margherita, with training support from M/S IEQVIP Corporation, Larsen & Toubro (L&T). The programme is being conducted from January 7 to January 9.
The inaugural ceremony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a welcome address by M P Dutta, General Manager (E&M), NEC CIL Margherita. He appreciated the initiative and highlighted the growing demand for skilled excavator operators in mining, infrastructure and allied sectors. He also commended Rahul Doley, Co-District Commissioner, Margherita, for conceptualising and facilitating the programme for the first time in the region.
Rahul Doley, Co-District Commissioner, Margherita, emphasised the importance of skill-based training in enhancing employability and promoting local livelihood opportunities. He expressed gratitude to K Mere and M P Dutta (E&M), General Managers of NEC CIL Margherita, Pronamika Konwar, Executive Magistrate and Aichem Hailoung, CA, CDC Office, for their support and cooperation.
He further underlined that the programme aims to create a pool of skilled local manpower for mining, road construction and infrastructure projects, thereby reducing migration and strengthening the local economy.
A total of 99 participants have enrolled in the programme, with nearly 60 per cent being ITI graduates and working professionals, while the remaining 40 per cent are light motor vehicle operators and fresh graduates.
The training combines theoretical inputs with practical exposure and is being imparted by experienced L&T resource persons Nalini Singha (COO), Ngi Khowlet Lukmo (In-charge, Upper Assam), Himangshu Thakuria (Senior Engineer) and Pranab Nath (Sales Engineer).
Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded certificates, which can facilitate them in obtaining HMV licences for operating heavy machinery. Officials and staff from the Co-District Administration Margherita, North Eastern Coalfields, Coal India Limited, Margherita and media representatives were present at the programme.
