GUWAHATI, Jan 12: Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Assam Pradesh, on Monday organised a large-scale programme to mark National Youth Day at the Srimanta Sankaradeva International Auditorium here, drawing participation from over 1,100 youths from different parts of the state.
The event, aimed at celebrating youth energy and leadership, was attended by several senior BJP leaders, including BJP Assam president and MP Dilip Saikia, Assam election in-charge Baijayant Jay Panda, state prabhari Harish Dwivedi, election co in-charge Darshana Jardosh, MPs Bijuli Kalita Medhi and Pradan Barua, BJP general secretary (organisation) G R Ravindra Raju, BJP general secretaries Anup Barman and Rituparna Baruah, BJYM Assam president Rakesh Das, and BJP vice-president Ratna Singh.
As part of the programme, 70 youths from various districts of Assam were felicitated with the ‘Yuva Pratibha Bota Award’ in recognition of their achievements and contributions in fields such as innovation, social service and leadership.
Addressing the gathering, BJYM Assam president Rakesh Das said the youth of the state remained committed to nationalism, cultural values and indigenous identity.
He also took a swipe at Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi, challenging him to visit Batadrava Than and Swahid Samarak, while asserting that the BJP stood with the indigenous people of Assam.
BJP Assam president Dilip Saikia, in his address, said the people of the state would not allow forces perceived to be divisive or anti-Assam to shape the state’s future leadership.
He reiterated the party’s commitment to protecting Assam’s identity, security and cultural heritage.
The programme concluded with a call for unity and youth empowerment, with BJYM Assam leaders underlining their resolve to engage the youth in nation-building initiatives under the BJP’s leadership.
