BISWANATH CHARIALI, Jan 15: Arunachal Pradesh Health, Family Welfare and Water Resources Minister Biyuram Wahge on January 13 reviewed preparations for the Pakke Paga Festival-2026 at the festival ground in Seijosa.
The three-day event is scheduled to be held from January 18 to 20, according to a press release.
Accompanied by Pakke Kessang Deputy Commissioner Bani Lego, administrative officers, departmental heads and PRI members of Seijosa, including Zilla Parishad and Zonal Parishad representatives, the minister inspected arrangements for the ninth edition of the festival.
The Pakke Paga Hornbill Festival, launched in 2016 by the state Forest Department, focuses on forest and wildlife conservation, with special emphasis on hornbills.
Wahge, who is the chief patron of the festival, has played a key role in promoting the initiative, which has helped raise awareness about conservation in the region.
Divisional Forest Officer Dhanwan Rawat said the Pakke Wildlife Sanctuary has emerged as a major wildlife destination in the Northeast, with conservation initiatives like the Pakke Paga Festival contributing to an increase in animal populations.
The minister also held a meeting with the organising committee to take stock of the preparations. Among those present were Pakke Kessang DC Bani Lego, in-charge ADC Kesang Wangda, DFO Dhanwan Rawat, ZPC Pani Tayam and ZPM Pijirang Champa Chiyom.
