NTPC Bongaigaon marks 21st Raising Day

‘Station received 76 coal rakes in December, highest so far’

KOKRAJHAR, Jan 16: NTPC Bongaigaon, Salakati celebrated its 21st Raising Day on Friday at the plant premises with enthusiasm, reaffirming its commitment to responsible power generation and sustainable development.

The celebrations began with the hoisting of the NTPC flag by Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, at the administrative building, followed by the NTPC Geet and ceremonial cake cutting.

Balloons in NTPC colours were released in the presence of GM (O&M) Anurag Gupta, Kasturi Maitra, president of the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, CISF officials, departmental heads, employees, union and association representatives, and members of welfare bodies.

Addressing the gathering, Maitra recalled that the foundation stone of NTPC Bongaigaon was laid on January 16, 2006, paving the way for development in the Bodoland Territorial Region, the Northeast and the country.

He highlighted the station’s operational performance, stating that as of January 15, 2026, the plant had generated 3,527 million units of electricity with a Plant Load Factor of 67.56 per cent and a declared capacity of 96.93 per cent.

He said Unit-2 achieved 319 days of continuous operation before overhauling in July 2025, while Unit-1 has been running uninterrupted for the past 373 days.

Maitra added that key efficiency parameters such as auxiliary power consumption, specific oil consumption and water consumption have been maintained within prescribed limits.

The station currently ranks fourth in NTPC’s Safety Evaluation Matrix and is among the top ten in the Performance Evaluation Matrix.

Highlighting sustainability initiatives, Maitra said NTPC Bongaigaon recorded its highest-ever ash utilisation at 115.3 per cent since inception.

In December 2025 alone, ash utilisation touched 313.45 per cent, with a record single-day utilisation of over 10,596 MT on December 24.

He also noted that the station received 76 coal rakes in December, the highest so far, and achieved total ash utilisation of 113.5 per cent during the year.

He credited these achievements to the dedication of employees and thanked unions, associations and welfare bodies for their support, urging all to continue working with integrity and innovation.

As part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives, the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club distributed more than 85 educational kits to students of Bhumki Lower Primary School at Salakati, reinforcing NTPC Bongaigaon’s commitment to community development and education.
