NAGAON, Jan 20: State president of Raijor Dal and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi addressed a massive public gathering at Juria Dagaon in Rupahihat assembly constituency on Tuesday, strongly criticising Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam. Gogoi urged local voters to boycott Aminul Islam in the upcoming 2026 assembly polls.

During his speech, Gogoi challenged CM Sarma to a face-off in Moriani, stating that if the Chief Minister could not come to Sivasagar, he should come to Moriani constituency to confront him directly.

Gogoi also announced that he would act as Congress’s brand ambassador in the forthcoming assembly elections, urging people to vote for Congress. He emphasised that while Rupahihat constituency would support Congress in minority-dominated areas, there would be no compromise in Dhing constituency.

Further criticising Aminul Islam, Gogoi alleged that his presence in the assembly enables CM Sarma to exploit Hindu-Muslim politics. He also predicted internal conflicts within the BJP alliance and potential clashes between BPF and UPPL ahead of the polls.
