Dibrugarh–Gomti Nagar Amrit Bharat Express trains begin regular operations

GUWAHATI, Jan 22: Amrit Bharat Express trains, inaugurated earlier by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have now been introduced for regular operations under the Northeast Frontier Railway, marking a significant step towards strengthening long-distance rail connectivity while offering affordable and modern travel facilities to passengers.

The Train No 15949/15950 Dibrugarh–Gomti Nagar–Dibrugarh Amrit Bharat Express will run on a weekly basis.

The inaugural regular service from Dibrugarh will commence on January 30, 2026, departing at 21:00 hours every Friday, while the return service from Gomti Nagar will begin on February 1, 2026, departing at 18:40 hours every Sunday.

The train will halt at key stations including Moranhat, Simaluguri, Mariani, Furkating, Dimapur, Diphu, Lumding, Guwahati, Rangiya, New Bongaigaon, New Alipurduar, New Jalpaiguri, Katihar, Barauni, Gorakhpur, Ayodhya Dham Junction and Barabanki.

Another weekly service, Train No 16597/16598 SMVT Bengaluru–Alipurduar–SMVT Bengaluru Amrit Bharat Express, will start its regular run from SMVT Bengaluru on January 24, 2026, departing at 08:50 hours every Saturday.

The return journey from Alipurduar will commence on January 26, 2026, departing at 22:25 hours every Monday.

En route, the train will stop at Katpadi, Renigunta, Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Kharagpur, Barddhaman, Malda Town and New Jalpaiguri.

The Train No 20604/20603 Nagercoil–New Jalpaiguri–Nagercoil Amrit Bharat Express will also operate weekly.

The service from Nagercoil will begin on January 25, 2026, departing at 23:00 hours every Sunday, while the return journey from New Jalpaiguri will start on January 28, 2026, departing at 16:45 hours every Wednesday.

This train will have stoppages at Madurai, Pollachi, Erode, Katpadi, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Kharagpur, Malda Town and Kishanganj.

Similarly, the weekly Train No 20610/20609 Tiruchchirappalli–New Jalpaiguri–Tiruchchirappalli Amrit Bharat Express will commence operations from Tiruchchirappalli on January 28, 2026, departing at 05:45 hours every Wednesday.

The return service from New Jalpaiguri will begin on January 30, 2026, departing at 16:45 hours every Friday.

The train will stop at Tambaram, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Cuttack, Kharagpur, Malda Town, Barsoi and Kishanganj.

The Kamakhya–Rohtak–Kamakhya Amrit Bharat Express, Train No 15671/15672, will also run weekly.

The service from Kamakhya will start on January 30, 2026, departing at 22:00 hours every Friday, while the return journey from Rohtak will begin on February 1, 2026, departing at 22:10 hours every Sunday.

The train will have stoppages at Rangiya, New Bongaigaon, New Jalpaiguri, Kishanganj, Katihar, Khagaria, Barauni, Sonpur, Aunrihar, Prayagraj and Delhi.

All Amrit Bharat Express services will operate with 22-coach modern rakes designed to enhance passenger comfort while maintaining an affordable fare structure.

The introduction of regular operations of these trains under the Northeast Frontier Railway underscores the Railways’ commitment to inclusive development, improved connectivity and continued modernisation of the railway network.
