Awareness programme on child marriage held at Hira Basti

HOJAI, Jan 30: On National Girl Child Day 2026, SOS Children’s Village, Hojai, organised an awareness programme on child marriage at Hira Basti Cluster, aligned with the National Campaign against Child Marriage. Over 200 girls from Milik Basti, Hawaipur, Dhanuhar Basti and Hira Basti attended.

The event was graced by DSP S Chowdhury as Chief Guest, along with Vidisha Gogoi, Tagarabala Das and Bobita Bala Das. The programme featured presentations on girls’ rights, legal provisions under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act (PCMA), 2006 and government measures against child marriage.

Winners of drawing, drama and dance competitions were awarded certificates and Bal Panchayat children performed a drama highlighting child rights, concluding the event with cultural performances coordinated by the FSP team.
