Sivasagar Kobi Chakra holds annual meeting

SIVASAGAR, Feb 1: The Sivasagar Kobi Chakra on January 31 held its annual meeting at a picturesque spot near the Dikhow river at Meteka Ghat. The meeting was presided over by Ashrumoni Dutta Ghosh, president of the Sivasagar unit of the poets’ body.

The programme was attended by Hemanta Rajkhowa, president of the district committee, along with noted poets Haren Gogoi, Bijay Rabidas, Brojen Das, Mukul Nath, Suresh Bhunya, Haren Chandra Nath, Dr Jatin Konwar and Pranjal Abir Das.

During the meeting, senior poet Bijay Rabidas’s new poetry collection titled ‘Aandhare Abori Dharibo Tuk’ was formally released by senior journalist Manoj Kumar Borthakur in the presence of all office bearers. Borthakur also delivered a speech highlighting trends in contemporary literature.

PK Das, General Manager (Drilling), ONGC Assam Asset, addressed the gathering and remarked that poets and artists belong to a unique and sensitive genre of society. Shyamanta Ghosh also spoke, sharing his experiences and feelings while interacting with poets from different parts of the district.

Mukul Nath lit the ceremonial lamp in front of ‘Patharar Kobi’ Ram Gogoi, the founder of Sadou Asom Kobi Chakra, the parent organisation.

Several poets, including Subhan Sing Gam, Binu Borthakur, Jayjyoti Gogoi, Chitralekha Rajkhowa and Bithi Gogoi, recited their self-composed poems. Kalpana Gogoi and Silpika Hatibarua added colour to the event by rendering songs.

The meeting concluded with a grand feast, marking a fitting end to the literary gathering.
