Workshop on PM-NAPS held for ITI trainees in Sivsagar

SIVSAGAR, Feb 1: In a strategic move to bridge the gap between vocational training and industrial employment, the state’s Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training (DECT) hosted a comprehensive day-long workshop on the Prime Minister’s National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (PM-NAPS) at Hotel Brahmaputra.

The workshop was organised with the support of the Regional Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (RDSDE) under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). It witnessed an enthusiastic participation of over a hundred attendees, including students and instructors from various trades of ITI Gargaon.

The objective of the programme was to simplify the apprenticeship process and highlight the enhanced benefits available under the PM-NAPS framework by bringing together trainees and industry experts on a common platform.

The workshop featured a panel of resource persons who shared practical insights into the evolving landscape of industrial training. Among them were Sushil Baruah, Assistant Manager, DICC, Sivsagar and Apurba Kumar Deka, Superintendent, ITI Gargaon.

Upasana Dutta, Project Executive, delivered a detailed technical presentation on the implementation of the scheme with a special focus on financial incentives for employers and stipend support for trainees. She emphasised that the scheme has been streamlined to provide improved facilities and greater opportunities than earlier.

The event was orchestrated by Kamaiah Engineering Services Pvt Ltd, Guwahati, which ensured a productive and high-energy environment throughout the programme.
