GUWAHATI, Feb 1: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma celebrated his 57th birthday on Sunday, receiving greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other leaders.
Sarma began the day with prayers at Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati. PM Modi tweeted his wishes, praising Sarma’s leadership and Assam’s progress under him. Sarma expressed gratitude for the PM’s message, highlighting his commitment to serve the people.
Home Minister Shah also extended birthday greetings, lauding Sarma’s efforts toward a developed and peaceful Assam. Sarma acknowledged Shah’s support, citing it as inspiration for continued service under Modi’s leadership.
Former CM and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and BJP president Nitin Nabin also conveyed their wishes, invoking blessings from Maa Kamakhya for Sarma’s health and strength. On the day, Sarma planned visits to Goalpara for the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyaan (MMUA) cheque distribution, Darrang for Bir Chilarai Divas and the state capital for the foundation stone-laying of a new Gauhati Medical College and Hospital building.
