Morigaon, Feb 03: Rajumoni Saikia has been awarded the Satyajit Ray Memorial Award 2026 at the 7th International Micro Film Festival (KIMFF), held recently at the Moulali State Yuba Kendra Auditorium in Kolkata.
Saikia received the honour for his performance in the content writing competition for short films. The contest saw participation from 183 creators from across the country. His self-written Bengali story, Howrah Railway Station, was also published in Bioscope to mark the occasion of the festival.
A multilingual poet and noted dramatist, Saikia has directed 26 full-length stage productions and has won several awards at the national level in one-act drama competitions. His contribution to theatre has earned him prestigious titles such as Natyashree from Allahabad Natya Sangha and Natya Ratna from N.T. Rama Rao Kala Parishad, Repalle, Andhra Pradesh.
Two of his plays, Aru Ami and Pandavs, have also secured awards at national competitions, adding to his growing list of accolades.
