DIMA HASAO, Feb 3: A devastating fire broke out early at Subash Nagar under Maibang Police Station in Dima Hasao district, leaving several families homeless. The fire erupted around 7 AM on Tuesday and the cause is yet to be ascertained.
According to preliminary reports, the blaze damaged nine residential houses, including one rented house, causing extensive loss of property. However, no casualties or injuries were reported.
On receiving information, Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the spot and acted swiftly to control the flames, preventing the fire from spreading further in the densely populated locality. Their timely intervention averted a major disaster.
Officials said an assessment of losses is being conducted by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) along with CQRT volunteers to evaluate the extent of damage and prepare a detailed report.
The district administration has assured that necessary relief and assistance will be provided to the affected families as per government norms. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
