Sonitpur District Development Committee reviews project progress

TEZPUR, Feb 6: The monthly meeting of the District Development Committee was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Sonitpur District Commissioner Ananda Kumar Das at the Conference Hall of the Office of the District Commissioner. The meeting was attended by District Development Commissioner Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of Sonitpur Zilla Parishad Jayanta Kumar Borah, Additional District Commissioners Kuldip Hazarika and James Aind, along with heads of various departments of the district.

At the outset, the District Commissioner emphasised the need for continuous improvement and timely completion of projects. The meeting focused on interdepartmental coordination required for proper implementation of schemes and addressed bottlenecks faced by departments, including issues related to land acquisition under PWD Roads, fund disbursement and slow progress in certain projects.

The committee reviewed ongoing works under the Public Works Department (Roads & Buildings), including initiatives under Asom Mala and Jagannath Community Centres, as well as projects undertaken by the Tezpur Water Resources Division. The progress of flagship schemes under various departments was also discussed.

The District Commissioner reiterated that departmental heads must ensure efficient execution and timely completion of schemes within their respective jurisdictions.
