DIMAPUR, Feb 6: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Thursday described the signing of the historic memorandum of agreement (MoA) for the formation of the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA) as a testament to the state government’s commitment to ensuring equitable and inclusive development across all regions of Nagaland.

The MoA was signed in New Delhi between the Government of Nagaland, the Government of India and the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Rio and senior leaders of the ENPO.

Addressing the signing ceremony held at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Rio expressed hope that the agreement would reflect mutual trust among all stakeholders and address the long-standing aspirations of the people of eastern Nagaland. He said the pact would help take development directly to the doorsteps of citizens, benefiting not only the eastern region but the state as a whole.

The Chief Minister congratulated the people of eastern Nagaland on achieving what he termed a significant milestone and commended them for the sustained journey and efforts that led to this landmark agreement. He assured the government’s full cooperation and support in the collective pursuit of progress and development for every section of Naga society.

“All the Naga tribes join you in celebration, as this is not just an achievement of the eastern people, but a victory for the entire Naga society,” Rio said.

The agreement marks a significant step toward addressing regional aspirations within Nagaland while strengthening unity and development within the state.
