Among the prominent centres of worship, the historic Hatigarh Shiva Temple, a symbol of Ahom-era architecture and heritage, witnessed grand celebrations. Devotees offered incense, lamps and sacred offerings at the feet of Lord Shiva, seeking blessings with deep reverence.

Similarly, the ancient Gorkhiya Dol, believed to have originated through the sacrifice of a young shepherd boy, became a major spiritual gathering point. Devotees from different parts of the state arrived in large numbers to participate in the three-day Shivratri observance being held there.

From dawn, long queues formed as worshippers crowded the temple premises to offer prayers and receive blessings. At times, movement inside the temple became extremely congested.

As part of the celebrations, a traditional religious drama titled “Jalandhar Upakhyan” will be staged tonight by local youths at Gorkhiya Dol. The festival will conclude tomorrow with various religious and cultural programmes.
