Disaster Management meeting held at Tamulpur

TAMULPUR, Feb 20: An important meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Tamulpur was held on Friday in the conference hall of the District Commissioner’s office. The meeting was chaired by the District Commissioner and Chairperson of DDMA, Simi Karan, IAS.

During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted of the damages caused by disasters during the financial year 2025–26. Heads of departments including Soil Conservation, PWD (Roads), Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL), Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Irrigation and others participated and presented reports on the losses incurred under their respective departments.

Discussions were also held regarding proposed schemes to be submitted under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). The concerned departments were directed to submit necessary proposals at the earliest and ensure proper implementation of approved projects.

The meeting further reviewed certain pending bills and payment-related matters under the DDMA, Tamulpur. The District Commissioner emphasised the need for stronger inter-departmental coordination in disaster management and noted that with the monsoon season approaching, all concerned departments must remain prepared for possible floods and storms.

Officials from the District Commissioner’s office, along with departmental heads and staff were present at the meeting, informed Sub-Divisional Information and Public Relations Officer Bijoy Bezbaruah.
