NFR GM inspects 154-km safety stretch from Kamakhya to Dangtal

GUWAHATI, Feb 21: Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), undertook a comprehensive safety inspection of the Kamakhya – New Bongaigaon – Dangtal section on Friday, as part of the Railways’ sustained efforts to strengthen operational safety and infrastructure reliability. The inspection covered a stretch of 154 kilometres. Senior officials from the Headquarters and the Division accompanied the General Manager during the inspection.

During the inspection, the General Manager carried out a detailed assessment of track conditions, minor and major bridges, signalling and telecommunication systems, traction installations, level crossing gates and station infrastructure along the section. Safety critical assets, curves, points & crossings and ongoing maintenance works were closely examined to ensure strict adherence to prescribed safety standards. He also interacted with railway officials and frontline staff to assess operational preparedness, safety awareness and alertness and reviewed the availability and condition of essential safety equipment at stations and work sites.

As part of the inspection programme, detailed stations inspections were conducted at Nalbari, Barpeta Road and New Bongaigaon. Developmental works in these stations are being executed with a focus on passenger amenities, stations modernisation and overall service quality.

The General Manager reviewed track behaviour and operational performance. The General Manager appreciated the efforts of railway staff and assured continued support for strengthening railway services in the region. Northeast Frontier Railway remains committed to providing safe, efficient and passenger-friendly rail services while continuously upgrading its infrastructure to meet growing transportation needs across the Northeast region.
