HAFLONG, Feb 23: In a bid to strengthen its grassroots organisational base in Dima Hasao district, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday organised its first Sakti Kendra Sammelan at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan in Haflong, followed by a Mahila Morcha interaction meeting, both drawing enthusiastic participation from party leaders and workers.
The Sakti Kendra Sammelan was attended by BJP Dima Hasao district president and MAC Dhriti Thaosen, district Vistarak Vinod Tiwari, DHAC Executive Member Donpainon Thaosen, vice president Liton Chakrabarty, and general secretaries Kehungsamying Riame and Konjit Kemprai, along with mandal leaders, Shakti Kendra in-charges and party karyakartas.
Addressing the gathering, Dhriti Thaosen emphasised that the party’s success in hill districts depends on a strong booth-level network and urged workers to remain closely connected with people while ensuring effective delivery of government welfare schemes to last-mile beneficiaries.
Donpainon Thaosen highlighted ongoing development initiatives in the district and called on cadres to act as a bridge between the administration and the public, stressing the importance of infrastructure growth, connectivity and social welfare implementation.
Vinod Tiwari spoke on organisational discipline and teamwork at the Sakti Kendra level, encouraging workers to intensify community engagement and maintain regular interaction with voters.
The convention focused on outreach strategies, local development priorities, infrastructure projects and flagship schemes, with interactive sessions allowing participants to share field experiences and prepare future action plans.
Later, the Mahila Morcha interaction meeting was held at the same venue, attended by district Mahila Morcha president Ripa Hojai, Vinod Tiwari, Liton Chakrabarty and Haflong mandal president Dilota Langthasa, along with women members from across the district.
In her address, Ripa Hojai highlighted the vital role of women in organisational growth and social transformation, urging members to expand grassroots outreach and spread awareness about welfare schemes for women and families.
Speakers stressed unity, coordinated action and sustained public engagement, while participants reviewed ongoing activities and discussed future plans to strengthen the Mahila Morcha network.
Both programmes concluded with leaders and workers reaffirming their commitment to organisational expansion, women empowerment and overall development of Dima Hasao district.
