DLM Office building inaugurated at Haflong

HAFLONG, May 10: Office of the Dimasa Lairidim Mel, Dimasa Sahitya Sabha (DLM DSS) was inaugurated on Monday at Johayaraji (Boildura) Haflong. The inaugural function was graced by CEM NCHAC Debolal Gorlosa. CEM Gorlosa inaugurates the new office of Dimasa Lairidim Mel in presence of DSS president Ramesh Thaosen, EMs- Debojit Bathari, Roton Jarambusa and Nojit Kemprai besides DSS GS Kumud Kemprai and all DSS members along with other guests present.

Chairperson NCHAC Ranu Langthasa was also felicitated along with other dignitaries present in the public meeting held on the occasion.

The meeting was presided over by DSS president Ramesh Thaosen. The meeting was started with prayer by the guests present. The prayer was led by DSS member Sukhen Phonglo. DSS GS Kumud Kemprai welcomed all the guests present. And the meeting was concluded with a vote of thanks to the chair, given by DSS office secretary Surjya Thaosen.

The inaugural function was attended by JNH president Sandesh Ardao and JNH GS Ronjo Hakhmaosa, members of DMA and Dibarai Mahila Samiti besides Dr Mahanta Langthasa president DSS Guwahati District Committee and vice-president of ITSSA along with members of Hojai, Cachar, Lanka, Maibang and other district committees.

DSU GS Pramit Sengyung along with GBs of Haflong areas namely SSR GB Prabendra Bathari, Retd Sr. BDO and GB of Disgao Raji Robindra Langthasa and GBs of different villages under Haflong Mouza, were present in the meeting.

Principal secretary NCHAC T D Daolagupu, principal secretary NCHAC Mukut Kemprai, principal of Haflong Govt Girls’ Higher Secondary School Swarnalata Thaosen along with her teacher colleagues, Dr Sarbajit Thaosen and associate professor Ron Kemprai from Haflong Govt College, teachers from Govt Boys’ Higher Secondary School and other dignitaries were also present in the meeting.

Members of Textbook Preparation Committee DSS including assistant convenor Bina Hakhmaosa were present in the meeting. In the meeting, Hakhmaosa shares her view that uniformity of terminology and their spelling is essential in preparation of textbook. Previously, DSS president Thaosen informed the house that DSS had already resolved to adopt the standard of language spoken and written in Dimahasao district.

Former president DSS Dinendra Thaosen, former GS DSS Ringpendra Nunisa and former president JNH Dethang Naiding were also invited in the function.

DSS President Ramesh Thaosen submitted a memorandum to CEM NCHAC urging for cooperation in the proposed project i.e. ‘Mission Mode’ with time bound by ensuring some incentives to the new interested writers and the experienced elders of the certain community so as to encourage the younger generation in writing different folktales, stories based on traditional practices, poems, etc., through visiting to senior citizens having experience in those topics. President Thaosen explained the project in the meeting. In response to the project, CEM Gorlosa assured to provide the required fund besides cooperation in time pertaining to its implementation and others. Further, he said that the Council is committed to protect the historical monuments of Dimasa Kachari Kingdom ranging from Maibang to other parts of the state. Dimasa literature only needs to be preserved with scripting but no required to create or compose the same like few other communities, he added.

Earlier, CEM Debolal Gorlosa handed over the Council’s letter of Settlement of the DSS Office to the president Ramesh Thaosen, for which he and all members and well-wishers of Dimasa Lairidim Mel extended their thanks to the Council authority and CEM Gorlosa.

All the speakers in the meeting gave valuable suggestions on promoting literature through strengthening of DLM with increasing members and writers in the community.
