NFR GM conducts annual safety inspection of Mariani–New Tinsukia section

GUWAHATI, Feb 26: Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway, conducted the Annual Safety Inspection of the Tinsukia Division on Wednesday, covering the 152-km Mariani–Simaluguri–New Tinsukia section. The inspection aims to strengthen operational safety, infrastructure reliability and passenger amenities.

The GM began at Mariani, reviewing crew booking procedures, resting facilities and Automatic Block Signalling System works. He inaugurated a newly installed Solar Power Plant and a Large Format Display system for real-time operational monitoring. At Nakachari, signalling systems, the Relay Room, the Electronic Intrusion Detection System and Level Crossing Gate No 102 were inspected with emphasis on safety compliance.

At Simaluguri, the GM conducted a speed trial on the Mariani–Simaluguri section in preparation for increasing sectional speed from 100 kmph to 110 kmph. He also inspected Level Crossing Gate ST-115, Point Nos 31 and 31A, the Power House, ABSS works, Railway Health Unit, Railway Colony and inaugurated a new Railway Playground and staff quarters.

Further inspections included Minor Bridge No 524, track maintenance practices, Naharkatiya Traction Sub-Station, Important Bridge No 561 and Switch Expansion Joint to ensure structural integrity and safe operations.

The inspections reaffirm NFR’s commitment to high operational safety standards, infrastructure modernisation, adoption of green energy and enhancement of staff welfare and passenger services.
