BISWANATH CHARIALI, March 19: After a long pending suspense, the Bharatiya Janata Party declared the list of contesting candidates for the forthcoming state assembly election on Thursday. Pallab Lochan Das, former cabinet minister, former MP of Tezpur HPC has been declared as BJP candidate for the Biswanath LAC for the upcoming state assembly election. It is to be mentioned here that the name of sitting MLA of Biswanath LAC Pramod Borthakur has been dropped this time.

Borthakur, the two times MLA from Biswanath LAC was one amongst the ticket aspirants from Biswanath LAC. On the other hand, Diganta Ghatowal; sitting MLA of Behali, Bhaskar Hazarika, Anjan Bora (Khonti) were the ticket aspirants from Biswanath LAC.  Both the sitting MLAs Pramod Borthakur and Diganta Ghatowal have been deprived from getting the party tickets this time.

It is pertinent to mention here that the organisational set up of the Bharatiya Janata Party is strong in comparison to the Congress party and other allied opposition parties in Biswanath district. But the victory of Pallab Lochan Das would never be easy this time. He will have to face resentment among the party workers.
