MARGHERITA, March 20: BJP candidate from the 83rd Margherita Legislative Assembly Constituency, Bhaskar Sharma, filed his nomination papers on Friday at the Tinsukia District Deputy Commissioner’s office, accompanied by a massive procession of supporters.
Earlier in the day, a large number of BJP workers, members and supporters gathered in front of Eco Park in Margherita town, where Sharma paid tribute at the statue of Chaolung Sukapha. He then began a foot march towards Segunbari in Margherita, proceeding onward to Tinsukia.
Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, Tinsukia district BJP president Kusha Kanta Bora and senior party leaders including Bhim Karmakar, Sanjay Singh, Sukhdev Sharma, Simanta Madhav Katoky, Bhabesh Dutta and Suman Khalen were present during the filing of nomination papers at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
Speaking to the media, Bhaskar Sharma said that BJP workers and leaders have been working throughout the year and expressed confidence that he has no strong opponent in the constituency. He added that he is hopeful of winning the election for the third time with a huge margin of votes.
