HOWRAGHAT, May 5: A farewell ceremony for fourth semester students was held at the auditorium of the Hindi Department, Assam University, Diphu Campus, on Tuesday.
The programme began with a Saraswati Vandana and was attended by Head of the Department Prof Sheetanshu Kumar, Assistant Professors Dr Pramod Ranjan and Dr Satyadev Prasad, along with staff member Abhishek Kalita.
Addressing the gathering, the faculty members urged students to uphold originality, humility and social responsibility, emphasising that education should contribute not only to personal growth but also to service to society.
Speakers also highlighted the importance of women’s education, noting the increasing participation of female students as a positive indicator of social progress.
Six students from the 2024–26 session—Gayatri Sharma, Ankita Bora, Sanjukta Barua, Chayanika Chettri, Khushbu Saikia and Hema Srinath—were felicitated with certificates for their contributions to departmental activities.
As a mark of respect, students presented framed portraits of Hindi literary figures to the department.
The programme was anchored by Shiv Kumar Ram, and research scholar Samraj Chauhan was also present along with other students.
The ceremony concluded with teachers and attendees extending their best wishes to the outgoing students.
