3 killed in motorcycle-mini truck collision in Assam

RANGIA, June 19: Three persons, including two brothers, were killed after their motorcycle collided head-on with a mini truck in Assam’s Tamulpur district, police said on Friday.

The collision took place on the Rangia-Bhutan road in Tarabari village on Thursday night, when the mini truck hit the two-wheeler, a senior officer said.

The driver of the vehicle is suspected to have been in an inebriated state and has been detained, he said.

The deceased were identified as Majrul (16) and Zubaid Hussain (14), and Sultan Ali (21), he said.

Majrul and Zubaid were brothers, the officer said, adding that Ali was working in a private establishment in Kerala and had come for Bakri Eid. He had purchased the motorcycle five days ago.

The accident occurred when the three were returning home after attending a marriage ceremony. (PTI)
