Pramod Boro pays tribute at Martyr Sujit Narzary Memorial Park

KOKRAJHAR, June 27: United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) president, Rajya Sabha MP and former Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Pramod Boro, visited the Martyr Sujit Narzary Memorial Park in Kokrajhar on Saturday and paid tribute to the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives during the Bodoland movement.

Boro offered floral tributes at the memorial and observed a moment of silence in honour of martyr Sujit Narzary.

He said the visit was a gesture of respect and gratitude towards all those who sacrificed their lives for the aspirations of the people of Bodoland and the cause of peace and justice.

The memorial, dedicated to martyr Sujit Narzary, stands as a tribute to those who participated in the Bodoland movement and serves as a reminder of their contribution to the region’s history.

The foundation stone of the memorial was laid on August 5, 2022, during Pramod Boro’s tenure as Chief Executive Member of the BTR.

The project was undertaken to create a permanent place of remembrance where people can honour the martyrs and learn about their role in the Bodoland movement.

Speaking on the occasion, Boro said the completion of the memorial had fulfilled the vision behind the project and described it as a symbol of gratitude and respect for those whose sacrifices contributed to peace and development in the region.

He said that although the sacrifices of the martyrs could never be repaid, it was the responsibility of the present generation to preserve their legacy and uphold the values for which they fought.

He added that the courage and determination of the martyrs would continue to inspire the people of Bodoland in their pursuit of peace, unity and progress.

Several UPPL leaders, party workers and supporters accompanied Boro during the visit.

The party said the memorial would serve not only as a place of remembrance but also as a source of inspiration for younger generations to understand the history of the Bodoland movement and the sacrifices made in pursuit of a better future for the region.
