GUWAHATI, Aug 31: Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday paid a visit to the chief secretary Jishnu Barua, who will be retiring from the Indian Administrative Service at the latter’s office in Assam Secretariat.
The chief minister accompanied by Education minister Ranoj Pegu, chief secretary-designate Paban Kumar Borthakur and principal secretary Samir Kumar Sinha, lauded the outgoing chief secretary for the dedicated service he extended to the State and its residents for more than three decades. The chief minister also wished Barua a happy and healthy post-retirement life, while expressing confidence that the latter will always be available for advice and guidance.
It is worth noting that Jishnu Barua, a 1988-batch IAS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre, prior to his appointment as the State’s chief secretary, had worked in various capacities under both the Government of Assam and the Central Government.
