DIPHU, Sept 18: As part of nationwide pulse polio immunisation programme, Karbi Anglong district also started the immunisation programme for children between 0-5 years from Sunday, across the 506 polio booths in the district.

A ceremonial launching of the immunisation programme was held at Urban Health Centre, Rongkhelan, here on Sunday, where the Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), in-charge Health & Family Welfare, Surjya Rongphar administered two drops of polio vaccine to children between 0-5 years of age.
District Immunisation Officer (DIO), Dr. Durgeswar Engti about the immunisation programme said the pulse polio will continue till September 20.
Dr Engti also informed that more than 1,200 health workers including ASHAs and Anganwadi workers are engaged in the immunisation programme.
From Monday, the health workers and ASHAs will visit house to house for the children who have not been brought to the polio booths, he said.
