GOSSAIGAON, Sept 22: The unabated process for a drug free society by the Kokrajhar district police personnel is working in a full swing.
A team of police personnel led by Amar Jyoti Bailung, O/C, Gossaigaon police station in an operation seized huge quantities of ganja from a container from Gossaigaon Sapat Bridge and apprehended the driver of the container.
The container was heading towards Siliguri in West Bengal from Guwahati for the delivery of the consignment but failed due to the interception by the police in Gossaigaon.
Amar Jyoti Bailung, while interacting with media persons, said, “Acting on a secret input, we carried out a search operation near Sapat Bridge in Gossaigaon where we have successfully seized around 1483.40 kg drugs which was soaped into 270 big packets and apprehended one Ranjit Churasia in the process.”
It is estimated that the value of the seized ganja would be around Rs 3 crore in the open market. Investigation is on to find out more information about the consignment, police said.
