DIPHU, Sept 24: In protest against the ‘Give and Take’ policy by the Governments of Assam and Meghalaya, the Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC), Karbi Students Association (KSA) and Karbi Nimso Chingthur Asong (KNCA) held a sit-in-demonstration at Mukoilum under Amreng constituency here on Saturday. Mukoilum, West Karbi Anglong is 135 Km from the district headquarter Diphu.
Secretary of ASDC, Jotson Bey said, “To protect our border we all should come out and stand together but we see that all are silent concerning the border issue even the student organisations are also kept silent. While on my way I met a Congress leader at Amreng and urged him to protest against the border issue and he replied that a memorandum will be given to the chief executive member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and Assam CM. We have urged that all political parties should stand together on the border issue. The border demarcation was already done in 1951 and we should stick to it.”
Bey also said, president of All Party Hill Leaders Conference (APHLC), JI Kathar has failed to raise his voice on border issue. Congress, BJP and APHLC have to submit a memorandum on the border issue. The ASDC, KSA and KNCA have already submitted a memorandum to Assam chief minister on the border. We requested that the Government should hold an all party meeting on the memorandum.
