DIPHU, Sept 24: In a tragic road accident, a couple died in a road mishap at Sildharampur along NH-29 (Doboka-Dimapur) under Dokmoka Police station in the wee hours on Saturday.
The victims were identified as Dilipson Rongphar (52), Son of Late Nihang Rongphar and his wife Nisha Rongpipi (45), residents of Hori Taro village under Dokmoka police station.

According to family sources the accident occurred at around 5:30 am when the victims were returning home from a morning walk. A speeding Swift Dzire car heading towards Guwahati with registration number AS-01-EV-9414 hit them from behind. Dilipson Rongphar died on the spot while his wife Nisha Rongpipi died on the way to Nagoan hospital.
The bodies were taken to Diphu Medical College and Hospital for post mortem.
Rongphar was Deacon of Sildharampur Baptist Church and also worked as a Gram Sevak in Agriculture Department. They left behind two sons and three daughters. The mortal remains will be buried at the Sildharampur Baptist Church burial ground on Sunday.
