SILCHAR, April 8: Minister for Forests, Environment, Fisheries and Excise Parimal Suklabaidya, who is also the MLA of Dholai constituency distributed cheques of microfinance incentives and relief projects in the Barjalenga development block of Dholai assembly constituency of Cachar district recently.
Speaking on the occasion, Suklabaidya said that both men and women are working with a dedicated attitude towards building the state. In order to make Assam a self-reliant state, women have to play a special role, Suklabaidya said.
In keeping with the debt-free promise made to women, 25,000 women across the state are being issued 25,000 debt-free cheques, he said. Checks are already being handed over to block-based beneficiaries.
He further said that cheques of 691 beneficiaries have been approved in the Barjalenga development block and the cheques will be officially distributed among 398 beneficiaries. He also asked the officials of the department to keep an eye on the beneficiaries whose cheques have not been approved as per the rules and regulations of the government.
Minister Suklabaidya further stated that empowerment of women is one of the prerequisites for a prosperous state. Through self-reliant Assam, the women of the state have found a new light. With a view to the development of women, a new Arunodaya project will be given to 6 lakh more beneficiaries in the state. Multiple projects for the development of women tea workers in the state have already been initiated under the leadership of chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Speaking on the occasion, Subodh Das, ancholik Panchayat president, Barjalenga Development Block, referring to the development attitude of the present government towards women society, said that the development of women society is clearly visible today as a result of successful implementation of various initiatives of the present government. Through successful participation of women in all spheres including trade and commerce, politics, judiciary, administration, diplomacy, armed forces, law enforcement, peacekeeping missions, the country is gradually moving towards development. However, he said that the development that has taken place in the Barjalenga development block under the leadership of minister Parimal Suklabaidya in recent days is truly unimaginable.
