Woman held with opium in Manipur

IMPHAL, Oct 27: Police in Manipur’s Bishnupur district have arrested a woman after 1.138 kg of opium was intercepted in her possession.

A team of district police on random frisking and checking duty nabbed the woman identified as Hatneilhing of Churachandpur district on Tuesday evening, police said.

While conducting random frisking and checking at the Torbung area approaching junction to Sharon Park along Tiddim Road, the police intercepted the woman carrying one packet marked as “Everyday”.

On opening of the packet, it was found to be a jelly like substance coffee in colour. On preliminary inquiry, it was revealed that the packet contained opium which she brought for selling to prospective buyers, the police added. (NNN)
