GOSSAIGAON, Oct 28: The Trinamool Congress Committee in front of the SDO-Civil office premises organised a sit-in-demonstration program on Friday to protest against the skyrocketing price hike on essential commodities like – medicine, household materials, vegetables, etc., and excessive municipal tax.
The irate protesters holding banners, placards and festoons shouted anti-government slogans.
Uttam Kumar Talukdar, president, Kokrajhar District Committee, TMC while leading the dharna asserted that the government has totally failed in fulfilling its promises that they made during the last election.
He strongly condemned the government citing that as a consequence of their biased promises the daily wage earner poor people have been living a life of nightmare as the price of essential commodities has touched the sky.
The programme was largely attended by Dipak Das, secretary, Kokrajhar District Committee, TMC and central executive member Rajendra Mushahary and the active member of TMC.
At the end of the programme, a memorandum was sent to the Governor of Assam citing a list of demands for early solutions through the SDO – Civil Gossaigaon.
