DIPHU, Nov 18: The executive member (EM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) and Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) from Phuloni MAC constituency, Kangbura Killing clarified on his calling the media as terrorist. He said he was irritated at that time. The voice recording of the incident went viral in social media.
As per the incident on the night of October 18, some media persons of Phuloni from portal news channels went to meet Killing at his residence at Miju Teron village, Phuloni.
As per the viral audio recording, on seeing the media the EM said, “Media are terrorists. Media are taking the character of terrorists. All the media are going against the government. They don’t highlight what the government is doing for the people. When I see the media, I feel irritated.”
In the voice recording Killing can be heard saying, “Media should be neutral. Never come to me again because you all are against me. I don’t want to watch Karbi news. Almost all are and 90 % are supporters of All Party Hills Leaders Conference (APHLC). Starting with News Fast (a portal news channel from Diphu), I don’t want to watch any news. I will open my own channel.”
The media persons can be heard replying to his accusations.
The EM held a press conference in his official residence to clarify his statement on the incident of October 18 where he said it was a little late in the night when the media persons came to meet me.
The EM said, “It was a little late at night and I was having dinner when media persons came to meet me. Due to the various responsibilities and without a second though I directly charge them saying ‘media are terrorists.’ As a responsible leader I should not have uttered such words and this is a mistake.”
Killing also said it is not that he has not helped the people. In the last cultivating season he claimed to have ploughed 100 bighas of paddy field for those who could not. He said he got only criticism and his positive attitude has not been depicted.
