Miscreants rob Rs 4 lakh from Nagaon trader

NAGAON, Dec 2: At gun point, motorcycles borne four gangsters looted cash of Rs 4 lakh from a local businessman identified as Saiful Islam in broad daylight on Friday morning here at Huzgaon of Nagaon town while he was on the way to his Chutarupahi residence on a motorcycle.

The miscreants injured the businessman by assaulting him physically and then looted the cash from him, sources added.

Sources claimed that Saiful Islam arrived at Nagaon early on Friday morning from Jagun by a night service bus and when he was on the way to his native village, four gangsters coming on two motorcycles intercepted him at a gun point near Huzgaon in the town. When he stopped, the gangsters leaped on him and thrashed him severely following which they snatched away the cash from him and then fled from the scene, sources said.

Meanwhile, the victim businessman was immediately admitted to Nagaon BP Civil Hospital. A case has been registered in this regard in Nagaon Haibargaon Outpost and investigation is on, sources added further.

On the other hand, a gang of thieves entered into the house of one Bikash Bhuyan after breaking the door in the wee hours on Friday and looted his motorcycle, gold ornaments estimated value to be Rs 5 lakhs from the house.

It is noteworthy to be mentioned here that over a couple of months, criminal activities like robberies and thefts have surprisingly increased across the town which has drawn sharp reaction among the residents of the small town.
