‘The new generation is more creative’

NAGAON, Dec 15: The retired DGP of Assam and the president of Asam Sahitya Sabha Kuladhar Saikia ceremonially inaugurated ‘Nagaon Book Fair 2022’ which was organised by the leading cultural organisation ‘Kollul’ in association with Nagaon district administration at Homen Borgohain Kshetra at Nagaon Nehrubali field on Thursday afternoon here.
The inaugural session was chaired by Lohit Kalita, president of ‘Kollul’ and anchored by noted Assamese short story teller Sibananda Kakoti while Dr Mridul Hazarika, vice chancellor of Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya was present as the guest.
In his inaugural speech, the former Assam DGP Kuladhar Saikia said that Nagaon Book Fair, organised by ‘Kollul’ is unique and it has been playing a pivotal role for long in creating an intellectual atmosphere in the entire district.
Referring to the various prospects as well as other issues related to the books in current scenarios, Saikia however said the new generation is comparatively more creative and hence to sustain the prevailing creative zeal among the generation he appealed to all parents to read books equivalently.
While addressing the occasion, Dr Mridul Hazarika, vice chancellor of Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya claimed by saying that although digital books pose a challenge to the hard books in current smart era, yet the hard books is more prominent and permanent than those digital editions of books.
