Four minors freed from traffickers

GUWAHATI, Jan 30: The RPF (Railway Protection Force) of Northeast Frontier Railway rescued four minors from several stations in a number of drives and checks conducted on January 27, 2023 over NF Railway. The rescued minors were later handed over to respective Childline/parents for their safe custody and further course of action.
On the day of the incident, RPF of Kamakhya jointly with the CIB (Crime Intelligence Branch) team of Guwahati conducted a routine check at the Kamakhya railway station. During the check, they rescued a runaway minor girl. Later the rescued minor was handed over to Railway Childline, Guwahati for her safe custody and further course of action.
In another incident, the RPF of Lumding conducted a routine check at the Lumding railway station. During the check, they rescued a runaway minor girl and two runaway minor boys. After identification, the matter was informed to their parents by the RPF. Later, the rescued minors were handed over to their respective parents after proper verification, , informed the CPRO (Chief Public Relations Officer) of NFR, Sabyasachi De.
During the period from April to December, 2022 RPF of N.F. Railway rescued 686 minor children and 39 women with arrest of 10 human traffickers. The rescued children/women were handed over to respective Child Line/NGOs, parents and Government Railway Police. “Meri Saheli” has been formed over NF. Railway and functioning round the clock to make aware women/child passengers about the safety/security and use of Helpline No. 139 in case of any exigency.
