MARGHERITA, Feb 19: Leader of Opposition, ALA (Assam Legislative Assembly), Debabrata Saikia arrived in Tinsukia on sunday at a special visit where first he visited the residence of Pranjal Moran situated at Hukani Gaon, who went missing in the illegal coal mine in Ledo few days back, he offered condolences to the bereaved family and demand a proper investigation by the BJP-led Government of Assam accompanied him along with the where Pranab Baruah president of Tinsukia district Congress Committee, Seva Dal, Block Congress, Tinsukia Mahila Congress president Sobha Dohotia Moran, Mausam Baruah vice president of Assam Pradesh Youth Congress Committee, Karna Bahadur Chetry Chairman Gorkha Cell of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee and many state as well as district level Congress leaders were present.
He then met around 400 families who had lost their homes during the eviction drive carried out by the district administration and railway administration at Bagapani and Tingrai Railway station in Digboi under Tinsukia District last week. He assured them that he would raise the issue in the assembly demanding compensation from the Government and submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner through the revenue circle officer of Margherita.
Saikia also visited various illegal coals mining sites in 124 number Margherita Constituency and demanded that the BJP-led Assam Government to take appropriate steps to eradicate coal syndicate otherwise in the coming days members and workers of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee shall intensify strong agitational programme all over Assam.
